Submissions to the Coloradoan Opinion Section

The following acknowledgements have appeared in the Fort Collins Coloradoan opinion section:

Odell Brewing Company
Thumbs up to Odell Brewing Company for their Fake ID confiscation program. Staff receive $50 for every Fake ID they obtain from individuals under 21 years of age who are using it in an attempt to purchase alcohol. This program demonstrates the seriousness with which Odell’s take their responsibility in the community as a Responsible Alcohol Retailer (RAR).

Pringles Fine Wine and Spirits
Thumbs up to Pringles Fine Wine and Spirits for being an active member of Responsible Alcohol Retailers (RAR). As part of their commitment to serving alcohol responsibly in our community, Pringles requires that all employees be TIPS trained. This helps ensure that staff do not sell alcohol to underage or intoxicated customers.

RAR Members
Thumbs up to the following alcohol retailers in Fort Collins for actively and consistently demonstrating a commitment to the safe sale and service of alcohol in their membership with the Responsible Alcohol Retailers group (RAR): Aggie Liquors, American Eagle Distributing, CB & Potts, Coopersmiths, Cottonwood Liquors, Drunken Monkey, Hodi’s Half Note, High Country Beverage, New Belgium Brewing Company, North College Discount Liquors, Odell Brewing Company, Pappy’s Corner Pub, Pringles Fine Wine and Spirits, Rio Grande, Road 34, Sportscasters, Suite 152/Mystiq, Tony’s, Washingtons.

RIO Grande
Thumbs up to RIO Grande Restaurant for participating as an active member of Responsible Alcohol Retailers (RAR). As part of their commitment to serving alcohol responsibly in our community, the RIO has several programs in place to ensure that alcohol is not served to underage or intoxicated customers. These include requiring that all staff is TIPS trained, limiting the number of drinks an individual customer can purchase, and awarding $20 to staff who confiscate fake ID’s.

Suite 152
Thumbs up to Suite 152 for being an active member of Responsible Alcohol Retailers (RAR). As part of their commitment to serving alcohol responsibly in our community, bartenders at Suite 152 hand out Safe Ways Home cards to patrons whose BAC may exceed the limit considered safe for driving a car. Safe Ways Home cards provide information about available transportation options, costs involved with each, and how to contact the respective services. Ensuring that patrons get home safely is part of the RAR Code of Ethics.
